Bill Rider with his family

Program Director - Bill Rider

Bill is a teacher of American Government at Timberlake High School. His wife Shannon is the principal at John Brown Elementary in Rathdrum. The boys, Declan is a Freshman at Timberlake High School, and Rory attends Timberlake Middle School. Rory was the motivation for starting the basketball club.

The Riders are a Timberlake Family. Bill student-taught at THS in the Fall of 2004 and has been here either at the Middle School or High School ever since. Mrs. Rider started her teaching career at Twin Lakes Elementary, taught at TMS, and was a Principal Assistant at both TMS and THS before taking her position at JBE. The boys have only ever know being a part of the Timberlake Community.

Basketball & Club Leadership:

  • Founder & Program Director, Timberlake Elite Basketball Club (2024 – Present)
    Established this developmental program for my son, Rory, and his group.
  • Coach, Timberlake Middle School Basketball (2007–2012, 2013–2018, 2026)
  • 2014 IML Champion: Led the Middle School Girls program to a league title.
  • Dedicated 11 seasons to building the fundamental floor for the high school program.
  • 2026 IML Champion: Led the 7th Grade Middle School Boys team to the 1st League Title in the Middle School’s History!

Football Coaching Experience (2007 – 2025):

  • Varsity Defensive Coordinator (2025)
  • Assistant Coach / Position Specialist (2007–2024)
  • 14-Time IML League Champion: A member of the coaching staff for nearly two decades of dominant league play.
  • Postseason Success: Contributed to 4 State Semifinal appearances (2007, 2012, 2018, 2019).
  • Qualified for State Playoffs in 17 or 19 years (DNQ in 2017 or 2025).
  • Spent 18 years specializing in the development of the Offensive Line (5 years), Running Backs (11 years) and Defensive Line (2 years) retrospectively.
  • 17 Seasons as JV Coordinator: 92 Wins and 44 losses at the JV level (Winning 67.65%).
  • With Coach Rider on staff, the Timberlake Football had a record of 100 - 84, a WIN% of 54.35% over a 18 Year Coaching Career with the team.

Varsity Baseball Head Coach (2007–2015, 2020–2021):

  • 5-Time IML League Champion: Won four consecutive league titles (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014).
  • 5-Time State Qualifier: Led the program to the State Tournament in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
  • Finished 4th in the State in 2013: This team won the Consolation Game 6-5 in 13 innings.
  • League Honors: Two-time Inter Mountain League Coach of the Year (2011, 2013).
  • All-Time Record as Head Baseball Coach: 124 - 107 - 1 (Winning 53.4%).
  • 25 - 46 in 1st 4 years building the program, Finished 100 - 61 -1 (Winning 62.1%).
  • All-Time Leader in Wins, and Losses, at Timberlake as Head Coach.

JV Baseball Coach (2005–2006):

Managed player development and fundamental skill-building.
